Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Empatha is used by people of all ages and abilities, including many older adults and family carers who may rely on assistive technology. Accessible design isn't a compliance checkbox for us — it's core to who the platform is built for.
1. Our standard
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. This includes sufficient colour contrast, keyboard navigability, clear focus states, descriptive alternative text on images, and semantic, screen-reader-friendly page structure.
2. What we've built in
- A "skip to content" link on every page for keyboard and screen reader users
- Full keyboard operability for navigation, menus, and forms — including the mobile menu and dropdowns
- Visible focus states on all interactive elements
- Alternative text on all meaningful images
- Large, legible text and generous spacing, particularly important for our older user base
- Support for both light and dark colour themes
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences — animations are disabled for visitors who have that setting enabled in their operating system
- Clear, plain-English form labels and error messages throughout
3. Known limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a fixed destination. As we continue to build and refine Empatha, some pages or components may not yet fully meet every success criterion. We prioritise fixes based on real user impact and welcome reports of any barrier you encounter.
4. Third-party content
Some content, such as embedded payment forms from our payment provider, is provided by third parties. We choose reputable providers with their own accessibility commitments, but we can't directly control every aspect of their interface.
5. Reporting an issue
If you experience any difficulty using Empatha because of a disability, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as a priority, not routine feedback. Contact us via our contact page, by emailing accessibility@empatha.example, or by phone if that's easier for you — details are on our contact page.
6. Alternative ways to reach us
If our website itself is a barrier, our support team is happy to help by phone or email instead — you don't need to use the website to get in touch or arrange care.
