This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Empatha uses. We keep this deliberately short, because we keep our actual use of cookies deliberately minimal — we don't run third-party advertising trackers.

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the platform to function and cannot be switched off:

• Session cookie — keeps you logged in as you move between pages during a visit.
• CSRF token (XSRF-TOKEN) — a security cookie that protects your account from cross-site request forgery attacks.
• Remember-me token — set only if you tick "remember me" at login, so you don't have to re-enter your password on your next visit.

2. Local storage (not a cookie, but similar in effect)

Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, so the site remembers your chosen appearance across visits. This never leaves your device and isn't sent to our servers.

3. What we don't use

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or sell browsing data to advertisers. If this ever changes, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

4. Managing cookies

Because our cookies are strictly necessary for login and security, disabling them through your browser settings will prevent you from staying logged in. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser's settings; you'll simply need to log in again afterwards.
